Playwright is a framework for Web Testing and Automation. It allows testing Chromium, Firefox and WebKit with a single API.
Playwright now spans test runner, CLI, and AI agent tooling — Playwright has expanded beyond its test runner and library into new entry points: a CLI for coding agents like Claude Code and Copilot, and an MCP server for LLM-driven browser automation. This makes it relevant not just for e2e testers but also developers building AI agents that need to control Chromium, Firefox, or WebKit.
